Northey Arms Boules Club
Singles Knockout Competition
Sponsored by BathaquaGlass
The Singles Pairs Competition will happen in the summer from the end of May to September each year – Playing for the “Singles” and “Singles Plate” Trophies sponsored by BathAquaGlass.
All members will be encouraged to enter, to make it as inclusive as possible.
It will be a straight draw of entrants with no seeding. The draw will be made for the singles competition in front of at least six club members and an agreed ‘independent adjudicator’ to ensure fairness.
All of those included in the draw have said that they want to play in the competition and to be successful it needs all of them to follow through on their commitment.
There will be a main draw with first round losers going into a drawn ‘plate’ competition. Preliminary rounds may be required. Every entrant should therefore get at least two games. There will be no fixed time limit for each round however approx. 3-4 weeks will be allowed between each round, this is variable to suit the fixtures and entrants.
It is the responsibility of the both players to arrange games. If the match cannot be arranged within a reasonable time frame then the the organiser may intervene and decide on a suitable result. However, it is in everybody’s interest to play the game so please be proactive and sort your games out, particularly if you are away at any time during the timescales given. Don’t leave it too late!
The result from each game to be submitted to the organiser ASAP after the match.
You can play these games on a Monday club night IF space and numbers permit but please don’t crowd them out. There are league games on Wednesdays and Thursdays which will take priority. This year there is no need to book a piste you can just take your chance!.
Matches will be the best of three games to 13 points or if both players agree then a single game can be played. Normal EPA rules will apply to the games, if you wish you can agree to play with a ‘closed piste’. You will need to agree which piste you play on by the toss of a coin.
In the event of bad weather then both players may agree to rearrange the games, but it must be played within a reasonable timescale given.
Normal Boules rules will apply but please play the games in the spirit of friendliness and enjoyment that is at the heart of the Northey Arms Boules Club.
